Frequently Asked Questions

1. What makes your cinnamon oil different from others on the market?

Our essential oil is derived exclusively from Ceylon Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum)—a plant species native to Sri Lanka. Unlike cassia cinnamon, our oil is known for its sweet, smooth aroma and low coumarin content, making it safer for long-term use. We preserve its natural essence through traditional steam distillation methods.

2. Why is Ceylon Cinnamon considered superior to Cassia cinnamon?

  • Naturally low in coumarin, a compound that can damage the liver and kidneys when consumed in large amounts.
  • Delicate in flavor and aroma, with a sweet, refined scent.
  • Internationally recognized as “True Cinnamon.”

Cassia cinnamon, commonly found in other parts of the world, contains much higher levels of coumarin and has a harsher, spicier flavor, making it less desirable for high-quality extracts.

3. Does Sri Lanka have special recognition for Ceylon Cinnamon?

Yes. Sri Lanka holds Geographical Indication (GI) status for Ceylon Cinnamon. This legal protection confirms that only cinnamon grown and processed in Sri Lanka under strict standards can be labeled as “Ceylon Cinnamon,” ensuring authenticity and quality.

4. What makes cinnamon from Sri Lanka's Western Province so special?

  • Rich, fertile soil ideal for essential oil yield.
  • Abundant rainfall and stable climate—perfect for cinnamon leaf growth.
  • Low elevation and coastal influence, which enhance the aromatic quality of the leaves.

These unique geographic and climatic factors make Western Province cinnamon especially fragrant and high in eugenol content, the key compound in cinnamon leaf oil.

5. Where do your cinnamon leaves come from?

We exclusively harvest leaves from Kalutara District, ensuring all our products are single-origin. This area is renowned for producing some of the finest Ceylon Cinnamon in the world.

6. Is your oil food-grade or cosmetic-grade?

Our oil complies with ISO 3524:2003 standards and contains a minimum 75% Eugenol, making it suitable for:

  • Aromatherapy
  • Cosmetics and skincare
  • Natural perfumery
  • Non-edible wellness products

Note: For topical or inhalation use only. Always consult usage guidelines before application.

7. How is the cinnamon oil extracted?

We use a traditional steam distillation method:

  • Fresh cinnamon leaves are gently steamed to release essential oils.
  • The oil is separated from hydrosol using careful skimming and filtration.
  • Final product is stored in sanitized, airtight containers under GMP-compliant conditions to preserve purity.

8. How do you ensure sustainability and support the local community?

  • Sustainable practices that reduce environmental impact.
  • Providing fair employment in rural Sri Lankan communities.
  • Ensuring all processes follow strict hygiene and GMP protocols to protect workers and end users alike.

9. Can I visit your factory or plantations?

Yes! We welcome clients and partners to visit our Meegahathenna-based facility by prior appointment. Seeing the process firsthand helps build trust and demonstrates our commitment to transparency.
